Interview with Venita Aspen

We are delighted to feature Charleston-based influencer, model, and blogger Venita Aspen on The Basket Weave. As she likes to say, Venita accidentally stumbled into blogging ten years ago and now it makes up her full-time job along with being a cast member on Bravo's Southern Charm.

We caught up with Venita to hear about her favorite Pamela Munson designs, what inspires her, and where she'll be taking her new Pamela Munson handbag.  We hope you enjoy learning more about Venita as much as we do.

Tell us about your business and career trajectory.

My career as an influencer was a happy accident! It started with me posting images from my modeling portfolio which led brands to believe that I was promoting products and ten years later here I am!

What inspires you? Many of Pam’s designs are inspired by childhood travel memories and time with her family, do you have a go-to source of inspiration?

Unique shapes and silhouettes have always inspired me. My go-to source of inspiration is vintage magazines!

Do you have any treasured travel memories with your family? Or destinations you keep going back to? Where do you go and what was your favorite memory?

New York and Harbour Island are the two places I keep going back to! Harbour Island was my first solo trip and I fell in love with the natural beauty of the area as soon as we landed.

How has your style changed over the years?

Oh my gosh, I feel like my style changes everyday. It always has a hint of prep to it but considering I get dressed based off of how I’m feeling that day, it’s always something different!

We have to ask: what’s in your bag? Tell us about your everyday essentials in your Pamela Munson handbag.

I have an inhaler, epi pen, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, pens, notebooks, receipts, lip gloss, chapstick, and cuticle cream; I can keep going on and on - Haha!

What is your favorite style from our Summer Collection?

I mean every bag is honestly so uniquely designed it’s hard to pick just one so I’ll give you a few 😉 The Joni Chintz, The Teddy is to die, and The Lady Bag Navy - the color of the leather allows you to really carry this beautiful straw bag all season.

If you could take your new Pamela Munson handbag anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would take my bag to Harbour Island. It’d fit in perfectly with the vibes of the area.
